Best Feature Documentary Award Showcasing Caribbean Stories

September 15, 2026

Toronto, Canada, 15 September 2026: Eclectic Aspirations is proud to announce that its uplifting film, WEALTH UNTOLD, won the Jury Award for Best Feature Documentary at Screen Share 2026.

Produced over four years by a team of independent filmmakers and ocean advocates, WEALTH UNTOLD offers an intimate look at efforts to protect Belize’s world-renowned barrier reef while balancing economic prosperity. The documentary provides an inspiring call to action for coastal communities worldwide, highlighting the powerful role of women in shaping a sustainable future.

Screen Share: Caribbean Stories, Collective Power was a landmark collaboration between Toronto-based CaribbeanTales International Film Festival and Trinidad and Tobago-based Caribbean Film Festival. Taking place in Toronto, September 8 to 13, the Screen Share program brought together filmmakers from across the Caribbean and its diaspora whose stories illuminate the ways individuals, families, and communities navigate history, identity, and transformation.

WEALTH UNTOLD marked its Canadian Premiere with a sold-out screening on September 8, 2026, during Opening Night of Screen Share at Dundas West Studio. The screening was followed by a lively Q&A session between filmmakers and audience members, focusing on how coastal communities across the Caribbean are managing their natural resources. In particular, the conversation contrasted efforts in Belize and Jamaica to manage mass tourism developments, guarantee beach access by locals, and break free from remnants of colonial-era laws.

The filmmaking team extends its heartfelt gratitude to the members of the jury for recognizing WEALTH UNTOLD with the Best Feature Documentary award. This award is quite meaningful coming from the Caribbean community and reinforces the need to continue sharing positive stories on how we can join forces to protect the sea that nurtures our cultural heritage and way of life.

We look forward to facilitating in-person community screenings and securing public television broadcasts to reach a much wider audience. As part of the film’s Impact Vision, we also provide bespoke support for mission-aligned partners that wish to leverage the film as a ready-made platform to amplify their own conservation and community goals.
